Finding Murderers Not Important

romanu2_026.jpg Romano Tikotikoca

FijiVillageOnline reports that outgoing Acting Commissioner of Police Romano Tikotikoca has said the investigations into the murders of Nimilote Verebasaga and Sakiusa Rabaka are not important right now.

The following is an extract of that article:-

Terminated Acting Police Commissioner Romanu Tikotikoca believes that police investigations into the military regarding the Nimilote Verebasaga and Sakiusa Rabaka death is not paramount at this stage because of the current situation the country is facing.

Tikotikoca made the comment in his last day as Acting Commissioner yesterday as new Police Commissioner Captain Esala Teleni took up office.

He has also called on all police officers in the country to stand up and work closely with Commissioner Teleni in helping to maintain law and order in the country.

(see http://www.fijivillage.com/artman/publish/article_39387.shtml)

HnC is somewhat suprised at how someone like Tikotikoca can make such an insensitive statement.

If it was his son who was brutally murdered - beaten to death, what would he think when he hears the outgoing Commissioner of Police say that finding his son’s murderers just isn’t as important as finding evidence of corruption against the ousted government.

Is the life of Verebasaga and Rabaka unimportant to the Police/Military because the armed forces are inlvoved in their murders?

Are they protecting their own?

I sincerely hope Tikotikoca’s comments were taken out of context because I was just begining to have a renewed sense of respect for this man!
