SCARY SNAPSHOT OF FIJI:

1. Romanu downplays the focus on murder investigations and interference of Law and Order by Military.

2. Voreqe threatens to delay Elections if Critics of this Regime continue to voice their opinions.

3. PSC claims to downsize the Govt then advertises 300 vacant Positions.

4. Mahen is now saying economy is in trouble and we need help from businesses.

5. FHRC Director Shaista Shameem is recorded on FIJILIVE as saying that she is concerned about Australian military abusing the rights of Aboriginies in Northern Territory after she heard the military moved into a community to investigate abuse of women and children in that community. She said she would write to AHRC to offer legal advice regarding abuse of indigenous rights, and offer assistance.

6. Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau (BRG) is heading off for her shopping trip to Dubai because it’s Dubai Summer Surprises shopping festival in Dubai - as explained by Kiri Richmonds’ letter to the editor in Fiji Times (Monday July 02). Kiri also expained that it’s too hot in Dubai right now to do business as all major executives take this time to go for a holiday to cooler climates for family skiing etc.

7. We’re told Sugar will carry us through the rough times, and NLTB is adjusting land tenure legislation as we speak to slowly introduce to the fijian community changes in regulations about their land. If they lease it and they want it back at the end of the lease, they should justify it. The NLTB will then assess and decide if it’s worth it to return the land to the landowners or extend the lease to the leasee. how does this prevent the leasee from bribing the NTLB people? oh forgot, we have honest hardworking people like Epeeli Ganilua looking after our interests. This is just the begining. The next step is to tell landowners that if they don’t use their land, they forfeit it to whoever NLTB choses. Of course the land owners will be given an annual percentage of the lease etc, but no help so far has been planned to advise and direct land owners on who to work with to get the best deal out of their land, instead land laws are not going to be enforced to make land owners more dependant on the Epeeli Ganilua run NLTB.

8. GCC membership to be modified to suit Epeeli Ganilua’s choices.

9. GCC selection of President and Vice President then to be enforced AFTER Epeeli changes membership.

Who knows, 10. Future president endorses Military Rule for another 10 years?
