Block Head of The Year

show_picture.jpg Block Head of the Year: Baini Marama

Like the rest of Fiji, HnC watched the FijiTV coverage of Baini Marama’s interview with TVNZ in absolute astonishment as he proudly confirmed to the world that he is amongst the dumbest people ever to walk this planet.

If you had the opportunity to watch the few snippets of the interview aired on FijiTV last night, you, like me, would probably have experienced a wide range of emotions - in quick succession.

The first emotion would no doubt have been the feeling of UTTER DISGUST at the callous and arrogant attitude with which Baini Marama seemed to have been approaching the whole interview - he was clearly trying to ”show off” to the female TVNZ reporter (who seemed uninterested at Baini’s thinely veiled efforts to impress her). I wonder if Mrs Baini Marama was somewhere closeby during the interview?

The second emotion would have been one of PURE SHOCK at the apparent lack of comprehension that our self-appointed Prime Minister had to the questions being asked of him by the TVNZ reporter.

It was as if he was mesmerised by his own self importance and (lack of) brilliance.

Here are a few of the questions asked by the TVNZ reporter and the silly incomprehensible answers given by Baini:-

Reporter: Can you tell us the real reason for Micheal Green’s expulsion?

Baini: Well, he said some very bad things about us.

Reporter: Is that it?

Baini: What thats not enough?

Reporter: Well, No!

Baini: What more do you need?

Reporter (thinking to herself): Considerably more than that I would imagine - you dopey freakshow!

Reporter: Ahem. How would you respond to the tougher sanctions imposed by Helen Clarke?

Baini: What did we ever do to New Zealand to deserve this?

Reporter: What did you do to NZ? How about expelling Mr Green?

Baini: Well, I think she’s being very childish. It was you know bullying. She’s using bull yard tactics.

Reporter (thinking to herself): Oookaaay. This one’s definately one fry short of a happy meal!!!

Reporter: If you are unable to achieve your goals and cannot bring this country out of this economic low, will you step down?

Baini: No! Definitely not! I will not step down because we will achieve our goals you know.

Reporter: But what if you don’t succeed, will you step down?

Baini: I already said No!

After hearing all that, the third emotion would have hit you like a brick wall.

That emotion is pure UNRESTRAINED LAUGHTER.

HnC now believes that segment of the news could easily become 2007 Primetime TV Comedy Moment of the Year.

At this point in the interview, HnC realised that Baini was really trying hard to dispel nagging rumours that he is in fact a “Block Head”.

He was hoping that by fronting up for the interview, he can show the people (and that female reporter from TVNZ) that he was quite clever and articulate.

What he ended up doing was just the opposite!

After seeing Baini’s performance on TV last, HnC is now eagerly awaiting Baini’s trip to Tonga for the Forum Leaders Meeting so that we can get some more of that comedy from our looney interim PM.
