Epeli v Baini

It seems Epeli “gusu va ika’ Ganilau is trying very hard to compete with his boss Baini Marama as to who will make the “Block Head” comment of the year.

HnC sources confirm that Epeli is not about to give up his “Naulukau” status to Baini without a fight.

Epeli’s description therefore of the GCC as being an “exclusive club of unelected people” is intended to send a clear unequivocal message to Baini that he will not allow the title of “Village Idiot” to be taken from him, that easily!

HnC is not in the least bit suprised that Epeli “gusu va ika” is calling the GCC a club of unelected members. Afterall, this was the same ”club” that Epeli was a part of but which turned its back on him when he tried to assert his “lasulasu” claim against Rt Naiqama. Epeli was claiming to be the rightful holder fo the title of Tui Cakau.

What makes the comments all the more silly is that the GCC is being criticised by Epeli because, he says, it is an ”unelected” body.

Epeli would do well to remember however that he is sitting pretty as Minister of Fijian Affairs not because of the 3 people that voted for him in the last elections but because he was pals with his closest contender for the title of Village Idiot - and for no other reason.

So please Epeli if you want to see someone who is ”unelected”, you just need to look in the mirror!!!

But just when HnC thought that Epeli had won that Village Idiot Award hands down - Baini returned with his trademark “I will not be defeated” attitude.

When FijiTimes reporters asked of him to respond to Helen Clarke’s statement that he may be ostracised by the member States at the Forum Leaders meeting, he had this to say:-

”She’s very insensitive and it shows her as being a very insensitive woman and I think she’s come to a point that she’s self-destructing.”

When asked of whether he will discuss Helen Clarke’s attitude towards Fiji at the Forum Leaders meeting, he said:-

”Yes, that would be one of the issues we would bring up if I do attend…there’s no guarantee that I will be at the Forum, I’ll probably break my leg somewhere around here.”

HnC is not quite sure what Baini meant by that statement but we are sincerely hoping that he will break his “neck” rather than his leg!
