From The Frying Pan Into The Fire?

Update: 7.29pm POST FIJI executive chairperson Fane Vosaniveibuli has been removed and replaced by Commissioner of Prisons, Brigadier Ioane Naivalurua.

Interim Public Enterprise Minister Poseci Bune said Ms Vosaniveibuli was officially informed of her termination today.

Mr Bune said Brigadier Naivalurua will act as the transitional board chairman and during his tenure he is expected to appoint a member of senior management from within the company as interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The interim CEO will act in the position until a substantive post holder is identified.

Ms Vosaniveibuli was terminated for authorising the purchase a $69,000 vehicle for her official use.

HnC says removing Fane Vosaniveibuli was clearly the right move.

The lady was as corrupt as they come.

But the IG knew about her corrupt background and they still allowed her appointment to go through.

It was only after she showed her true colours (which only took her TWO WEEKS) that the IG were forced to remove her.

And remove her they did.

But they replaced her with military Brigadier General, Iowane Naivalurua.

One must ask therefore - how much experience does this man actually have in running a multimillion dollar corporation, even if only for a limited period?

The reason why large corporations like Post Fiji require Chairpersons and CEOs with experience and commercial expertise is because they will inevitably have to make decisions that may make or break the company.

With all due respect to this man, this is NOT the same as running a ”company” in the military nor is it the same as running the Prison Department.

The lives and livelihoods of thousands of employees and their respective families now depend on this man - who has no commercial experience - to make the right commercial decisions.

This man had better be a fast learner - for all our sakes!
