When asked to comment on the US Committee’s adverse comments in the media, Baini responded as follows:-

Audio 1:

I’m not surprised that ahh… that this committee from the States is disappointed about ahhh… what Ratu Epeli had told them… ehhhh They are getting the same story from their ambassador, Larry Dinger, and Helen Clarke was getting hers from Michael Green… ahhh They are not getting the real story of what’s happening in Fiji. They wouldn’t have known anything about Fiji in the two days that they’ve been here and for two days they hang around in Nadi and they get briefed by someone who doesn’t understand or do not want to understand the events of ahhh the 5th of December, as in Larry Dinger, ahhh…. I’m not really surprised that they are disappointed with what Ratu Epeli has told them.

…for two days they make up their minds and they make up their decision on what should happen in Fiji… I think that should be left to us… we are going to live here yeah… Larry Dinger is going to go home in the next ahh… couple of months and so… when he finishes his tour… and he’s going to finish from here… We are going to live here with our children and our grandchildren so we should decide what happens in Fiji… It should not be dictated by the international community… if they want us to have elections around the corner and it’s not going to do us any good!

I guess what the people of Fiji would like to know right about now is whether this man finished school or not?
