Nasir Ali: FICAC Can Investigate Army
FijiVillage reports that FICAC Chief Investigator, Nasir Ali, has done a 180 degree about-turn and categorically denied that he said it would be “suicidal” for FICAC to investigate the military for corruption.
The full story is published below:-
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has stressed that it has never made a statement saying that any investigations of corruption to be conducted against the military, will be suicidal.
FICAC Chief Investigator Nazir Ali said he has never made the statement and people should know that no complaints have been forwarded to the commission in relation to the RFMF.
Ali is also confident that the Army Commander will allow for investigations if allegations do surface with evidence.
HnC welcomes this sudden turn around by Nasir Ali (na turn around tiko vei iko) and asks why he won’t just commence investigations against the military.
Its public record that the Auditor General has been trying for years to audit the Regimental Funds of which Epeli “gusu va ika” Ganilau has been accused of pilfering hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Its also public record that his bossman Baini Marama has been actively blocking every attempt made to audit these accounts - coming up with such lame (insane) excuses as “its a private fund and not public fund” and should not therefore be audited.
Its also public record that the Fiji Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Fiji in their wisdom disagreed with Baini Marama’s interpretation and ordered that fund’s book be made available to the Auditor General for inspection.
Its also public record that Baini Marama (in a moment of pure lunacy) publicly defied the Court of Appeal Order and dared the authorities to send someone to QEB to collect the Regimental Fund’s Books of Account. You can read part of that story here.
So Nasir Ali, you have all the reason you need to investigate Baini Marama and Epeli “gusu va ika” Ganilau - while you’re at it, can you also investigate what kind of fish the latter’s mouth resembles? I reckon its a “Qitawa”!!!
No complainant is necessary because the well publicised facts speak for themsleves.
Todate the Regimental Funds remain unaudited.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars of soldiers hard earned money remain unaccounted for.
Epeli Ganilau (as the incumbent Commander at the time - and prime suspect) has not yet been questioned.
Baini Marama has not fully explained why he would put the reputation of the military on the line to save his friend and mentor who was stealing from a fund meant for the soldiers of FMF.
Please Nasir, clearly corruption is rife in the military.
Stay true to your word and investigate corruption and nepotism in the military and the IG - and don’t forget to investigate your own appointment as Chief Investigator for FICAC, given your checkered past.
