No More Bullets Please

Fiji Live reports that Australian Defence Minister Brendan Nelson has said that three years ago Australia “lent” the FMF weapons, protective equipment and more than 350,000 rounds of ammunition to help Fiji soldiers going to Iraq. You can read the story here.

Nelson says what they lent included:-

…almost 175,000 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 60,000 rounds of 9mm ammunition, almost 17,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition plus 500 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition.

Thankfully, these ammunition and other supplies remain with the Fijian contingent inside Iraq, serving as part of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

HnC pleads with the Australian Government and all other governments to please stop arming our military.

Only a few of them go on overseas missions. You can arm them there and remove their weapons and bullets when they come back.

Most of them stay here in Fiji anyway and do nothing but PLOT COUPS.

One blogger suggested that the FMF is oversized and bored and they just want to practice what they train so hard for - even if it means practicing on their fellow citizens.

As one blogger put it:-
