Update: 3.03pm THE Auckland-based Coalition for Democracy in Fiji has called on the New Zealand government to freeze any assets and properties of those involved in the coup, Pacific Radio News reports.

Coalition spokesman Nik Naidu says Fiji’s interim Government has to realise the seriousness of the expulsion of High Commissioner Michael Green.

Mr Naidu says Commander Voreqe Bainimarama wants travel bans and sanctions lifted because it is hurting the ordinary Fijians, but ironically fails to realise it was the mess he created.

Mr Naidu was reacting to New Zealand’s plans to strengthen sanctions against Fiji over the expulsion of Mr Green.
