Theres no confirmation yet on whether the letter reached His Excellency the President but its hoped that by posting it here - it will somehow find its way to him.
Subject - Censorship and Aggression Against the Fijian People
Dear H.E. Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, CF, MBE, KStJ, MSD, JP,
Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama,
and Colonel Pita Driti,I was planning a trip to Fiji but will not longer be going due to the
outrageous behavior of your government against its people indicated at
http://www.fijitimes.com/print.aspx?id=62555Many in the US will be pursuing a boycott of your islands in response
to your actions against free speech. These types of terror tactics
never work and only serve to bring shame to your otherwise beautiful
country. If any further action is taken by your government against
free speech, we in the Internet community will expand this boycott
through the Associated Press, Reuters, and other major media outlets.
Obviously you did not expect to have this reaction which has only
brought MORE attention to blog sites that express “opinions.”By taking action against them you have validated their discussion and
fallen under the watchful eye of those who seek openness in all
societies. I expect that you will take no retaliatory action against
your people in the future, or the economic consequences to your island
nation may be dire.Sincerely,
Glen of Hawaii
